To provide primary and preventative healthcare services to residents of specific areas of Suffolk County with a focus on low income, medically unserved and underserved individuals.

Our services

Primary Care

Primary Care

We provide complete primary care for adults and pediatric patients in three locations. The treatments include but are not limited to physical exams and immunizations. Our primary care physicians are familiar with pain management and acupuncture techniques. Our physicians are bilingual in Spanish and Tagalog.

Psychiatry

Psychiatry

A medical specialty to study, prevent, and treat mental disorders. Both adult and pediatric psychiatry are offered at several sites. We have an adult nurse practitioner that specializes in geriatrics.

Additionally, one of our physicians is dual-certified in psychiatry and neurology.

Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health

We offer a variety of psychological testing which include psychiatry, neuropsychological, psychosocial and vinelands. Our mental health counseling is provided by a variety of mental health professionals.

Dentistry

Dentistry

Three dentists at two sites perform general dentistry. The procedures include but are not limited to: fillings, simple extractions, bridges, scaling and dentures.

Allergy

Allergy

To properly diagnose and treat patient allergies, our allergists are equipped with an array of tests: skin tests, intradermal tests, challenge tests, and blood tests. The goals of our allergists are to prevent allergic diseases and provide relief of unpleasant symptoms as well as full treatment of the allergy itself upon diagnosis.

Audiology

Audiology

The study of the entire field of hearing, including the anatomy and function of the ear; impairment of hearing; and evaluation, education or reeducation, and treatment of persons with hearing loss.

Dermatology

Dermatology

Involves the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the skin. This is a new service offered only at the CI location. With skin cancer on the rise and our aging population it can be considered part of our primary care.

Endocrinology

Endocrinology

Refers to the treatment of the endocrine system. This system controls the hormones and, when not working correctly, can cause pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal disorders, diabetes, heart problems, and weight gain among others.

GYN

GYN

Inclusive of a variety of healthcare services for women, especially the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the female reproductive organs. We have an adult nurse practitioner that performs annual exams and patient education several sites. Al the exam tables are power and patients in wheelchairs can transfer directly from their chair to the table.

Neurology

Neurology

The medical specialty concerning the disorders of the nervous system. Specifically, it deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of disease involving the central, peripheral and autonomic nervous systems. We offer this service in three locations. One of our physicians is certified in Pediatrics along with Genetics which makes him unique and a huge asset to the clinic.

Physiatry

Physiatry

Our physiatrist collaborates with other physicians such as primary care providers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and neurologists to coordinate treatment/prevention plans for the patient. This field of medicine concentrates on the wholistic functionality of the individual to diagnose and treat his or her disabling condition throughout the patient’s lifetime.

A branch of rehabilitative health that uses specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients regain or improve their physical abilities.

Podiatry

Podiatry

The branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the human foot. Procedures include debridement, many of our patients are diabetic and their needs are more urgent and complicated. We offer orthotics and braces when applicable.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Treatment and rehabilitation of physical, cognitive, and emotional needs through creative activity.

Optometry

Optometry

Concerns the diseases of the visual pathways of the eye and areas surrounding the eye. Eye exams will be performed by our ophthalmologists.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy

The treatment of speech and communication disorders. The approach used depends on the disorder. We offer speech at two sites along with augmentative communication.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine

The use of telemedicine seeks to increase access to health care by expanding means of communication between providers and patients. Interactive telecommunications equipment makes the process simple and precise. Members of our patient portal service can access our telematics feature.

Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology

Refers to products, devices or equipment, whether acquired commercially, modified or customized, that are used to maintain, increase or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Assistive technology products can enable people with disabilities to accomplish daily living tasks, assist them in communication, education, work and recreational activities. Assistive technology devices can help improve physical or mental functional, overcome a disorder impairment, help prevent the worsening of a condition, strengthen a physical or mental weakness, replace a missing limb, and help improve a person’s capacity to learn. Essentially, these products can help our patients achieve greater independence and enhance their quality of life.

As a 501 © (3) non-profit organization, Long Island Select Healthcare, Inc. (LISH) serves over 6,000 patients at eight strategic locations throughout Suffolk County, NY. We are a 16-specialty Article 28 Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and NYS Article 16 Rehabiliation Clinic. In 2017, LISH provided more than 70,000 visits at 8 sites located within Suffolk County.

Approximately 78% of the center’s clients are covered by Medicaid. A large portion of our patient population includes patients with disabilities such as: cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, autism, down syndrome, and more.

In 2014, the clinics of three Long Island Human Services agencies: Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI), Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE), and United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk Inc. (UCP), formed Long Island Select Healthcare, Inc. (LISH). Our first day of operations as Long Island Select Healthcare, Inc. was on August 22, 2016.

FTCA Deemed Organization – This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C 233 (g)-(n). Therefore, Long Island Select Healthcare, Inc. (LISH) is granted medical malpractice liability protection through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), and its employees are considered Federal employees with the Federal Government acting as their primary insurer.

How You Can Help

LISH accepts donations of financial gifts, volunteer services, gently used medical equipment, and electronics. Financial gifts may be in the forms of endowments or cash donations. Volunteering includes internship opportunities in the areas of therapy, medical, dental, administration and finance.

At the heart of Long Island Select Healthcare, Inc. (LISH) is a team of healers committed to individualized care and professional excellence. We all strive to be the place that patients choose for their health care needs and where employees choose to work. Together, we have achieved some major milestones such as the merging of three healthcare facilities into one organization, successfully integrating the Electronic Medical Records for all patients, and developing a culture of quality that acts upon the motto of “do what is right, even when no one is watching”. We believe that our patients and staff are a family of one. Not only do our providers have in-depth experience servicing the DDI population, they put the human touch in care. Our team approach, “can do” attitude is why we were able to successfully launch a collective 18 services within our first year.
